This horse race name picker turns a list into an animated race. Every entry becomes a cartoon horse with its own number, the field sets off together after a 3–2–1 countdown and the finishing order reveals your random result. It runs in your browser with real horse calls, no account, no app, no advertising and no analytics scripts.
Paste 2–100 names, one per line, or import a TXT or CSV file. Use people, teams, options or ticket numbers. Give each person one entry for equal chances; repeated names count as extra entries. For numbered horses only, drag the “Quick count” slider or type a number and the list fills with 1 to N.
Pick a short race for a quick decision or a long one when the whole room is watching. The timer only changes how long the reveal takes. The finishing order is decided before the horses move.
With more than 12 horses the track becomes an open meadow, so a field of 50 or 100 fits without scrolling. Full-screen mode works on a projector or a shared screen in Zoom, Google Meet or OBS.
Enter the team names or managers, start the race and press “Full ranking” when it ends. The complete finishing order, first to last, is your draft order. “Copy results” places the numbered list on the clipboard for the league chat. Because the whole order is drawn at once, nobody can argue that a later pick was influenced by an earlier one.
Put each ticket holder or ticket number on a horse and let the race pick the winner, or use the full finishing order for first, second and third prizes. To draw several winners without repeats, choose “Remove winner” and race again. This page does not sell tickets or handle money; it only draws names from the list you enter.
Use a short race to decide who presents first, who starts a board game or which group shares next. The full ranking doubles as a presentation order for the whole class. Save a roster under “Saved lists” and reload it next time with one click; lists stay in this browser and are never uploaded. For teaching routines see the classroom random name picker.
Before the animation starts, your browser draws the complete finishing order with a Fisher–Yates shuffle fed by its cryptographic random source. Horse number, name length and race length do not affect the result, and no horse ever slides backwards during the race. Read how the random name draw works for the full explanation.
A spinning wheel reveals one winner in seconds. A horse race gives a timed build-up, a complete finishing order for drafts and rankings, and stays readable with 100 entries where wheel segments become slivers. Both are fair when the draw is random; here the order is fixed before the horses move. Prefer another animal? Try the duck race name picker, the bunny race or all 16 species in the animal race picker.
Paste your names, one per line, or import a TXT or CSV file. This page starts in horse mode. Choose the race length and press “Let’s race”. Each non-empty line becomes a numbered horse.
Yes. Enter the managers or team names, run the race and open “Full ranking”. The finishing order from first to last is your draft order, and “Copy results” copies it as a numbered list.
From 2 to 100 entries. Above 12 the track becomes an open meadow so the whole field stays on one screen without scrolling. Duplicate names count as separate entries.
Yes. Your browser draws the complete finishing order with a cryptographic shuffle before the animation starts. Every entry has the same chance; the horse’s number and name do not influence the draw.
Run the race and read the top three or the full ranking for several places at once. To draw winners across separate rounds without repeats, choose “Remove winner” before racing again.
Yes. Open “Saved lists”, name the list and press “Save list”. Up to 30 lists stay in this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded, and you can delete a list from the same panel.
No. This is a random name picker with a horse race animation. It does not take bets, sell sweepstake tickets or follow real races. Use it to draw names, ticket numbers or a draft order from a list you enter.
Yes. Sound is on by default, with real horse recordings during the race. Click a horse to preview its call, or turn off “Sound effects & animal calls” for a quiet draw.
