FROM YOUR LIST TO THE FINISH LINE

How to pick a random name

    Just three little steps ↙
    01

    Add your names

Paste your list or import a TXT or CSV file. Each non-empty line gets one racer.

    02

    Make it your race

Choose a mixed crew or one of 16 animal species, then set a 5–120 second race timer.

    03

    Cheer for a winner

Start the race and watch the finish. Remove the winner to give everyone else a turn.

    A SMALL CLASSROOM RITUAL

Turn picking a student into a shared moment

Use the race for low-stakes classroom choices: who presents first, who reads the next sentence, or which group shares an answer. First names, initials or group labels are enough. There is no student account to create.

    A turn for everyone

Enter each student once. After each race, remove the winner so the remaining students can take their turns. Start a new list when the activity is complete.

    Keep the activity comfortable

Let students pass when appropriate. Use a short timer to keep lessons moving, turn sound off when needed, and project the full-screen track for the class.

    Names stay in this browser

The race does not upload your class list. On a shared computer, leave “Remember this list” off and clear the list after the activity.

    FAQ

    Good questions, little answers

How do I randomly pick a student from my class list?

Paste student names, initials or group labels into the list, one per line. Enter each student once, choose a short race and press “Let’s race”. Each entry has the same chance of being selected.

How can every student get a turn without repeats?

After each race, choose “Remove winner” before starting the next round. The selected entry leaves the list. The picker needs at least two entries to race, so give the final remaining student their turn directly.

Can I use the name picker on a classroom projector?

Yes. Open the website on the computer connected to your display, then use “Full screen” on the track. Browser support for full screen varies by device. Sound can be turned off for quiet activities.

Is the student name picker free with no login?

Yes. You can use 2–100 entries without creating teacher or student accounts. The tool supports presentation order, reading turns and choosing which group shares next.

Is my class list uploaded or saved?

The app processes names in your browser and does not upload the list. Saving on this device is optional. On a shared computer, leave “Remember this list” off and clear the names when you finish.
